The American animated cartoon “The Jetsons” sold us the idea that in the future, we would move around in flying cars, have Rosie robot cleaners and enjoy odd bits of inventions all made to make our lives easier. The last episode of The Jetsons aired in 1989, and, while we do not have flying cars or cleaning robots, we are rapidly acquiring automatic everything.
In the parking industry, robots are not an aspiration but a reality. Here are some examples of some of the latest automatic parking solutions in the industry:
Serva’s parking robot RAY
RAY is a parking robot that not only takes away the responsibility of parking from the driver, but also maximizes the available parking space in a garage. RAY doesn’t need to maneuver to move the cars, but rather gently picks them up and drops them off allowing cars to be parked closely. With the use of a turntable and car lifts, Woehr’s parking solution also maximizes parking space. In a Singapur apartment building, owners are able to park their cars in front of their living rooms. The different automatic parking products are feasible solutions for different types of parking garages. The main benefit for parking garages is the maximization of space. This may seem like a small advantage, but with the growing numbers of cars circulating, space is a big issue for parking operators. We might have to wait for flying cars, but, in the meantime, we can enjoy Jetsons-like parking solutions!
