WPS: Smart Parking In Renovated Shopping Center

Together with Klépierre and Interparking, WPS Parking Solutions has renewed the parking system of Alexandrium Shopping Center in Rotterdam. The modernization forms an important part of the recent renovation of the shopping center, which now combines a contemporary look with facilities that meet future needs

Modern parking experience

The renewed system introduces various functions that simplify use and improve traffic flow:

• License plate recognition at all entrances and exits
• Contactless payment at exits and payment machines
• New payment machines with license plate entry
• Complete modernization of the parking equipment
• QR-code scanning for parking tickets

Thanks to the QR-code, visitors can now easily and contactlessly scan their parking ticket at both payment machines and exits. Manual entry or physical contact is no longer necessary. This increases ease of use, shortens transaction time, and reduces wear and tear and improves reliability of the equipment.

The process at the exit is also efficient. The license plate is automatically recognized and, if necessary, the amount to be paid appears directly on the screen. Payment can then be made quickly and securely via contactless payment.

Collaboration as the foundation

The renewal of the parking system was achieved through close collaboration between three parties:

• Klépierre – owner and developer of Alexandrium SC, responsible for the renovation and the integration of mobility solutions in the broader visitor experience.
• Interparking – operator of the parking facility, responsible for daily management and focused on efficiency, reliability, and service.
• WPS Parking Solutions – supplier of the renewed parking system, which aligns with current technological developments and the growing demand for user-friendly solutions.

Positive experience

The first responses to the renewed system are positive. License plate recognition is especially appreciated: subscribers can enter and exit without any action, while visitors can drive straight through at the exit based on their license plate. This ensures smooth traffic flow and is experienced as a pleasant and welcoming solution. In addition, the payment process is simple and contactless, making parking clearer and faster.
